The Centre for Indigenous Innovation and Technology (CIIT) and Venture for Canada (VFC) Launch Guide to Support Indigenous Leadership in Tech
TORONTO, ONT. / December 5, 2024 — The Centre for Indigenous Innovation and Technology (CIIT), in partnership with Venture for Canada (VFC), proudly presents the Guide to Championing Indigenous Inclusion and Leadership in Tech and Innovation. This work is in support of CIIT’s mandate to increase the representation of Indigenous Peoples in Tech and the advancement of Indigenous Peoples and our communities in regions across Canada.
As an Indigenous owned and led organization, CIIT places enormous value on the programming, research, and cultivation of a national collaborative ecosystem. Developed largely through CIIT’s deep understanding and integration of Indigenous wisdom, this resource provides key foundations to Truth & Reconciliation, Indigenous inclusion/cultural awareness, decoloniality and best practices to workplace transformation and skills development programs.

Authored by Tanya Chung-Tiam Fook PhD, the Guide, in partnership with Venture for Canada and has been developed from Indigenous perspectives and lived experiences for startups and small businesses in the tech and innovation sectors. mission to support workforce transformation practices and Indigenous Inclusion.

Looking ahead to 2025, our next phase will include securing additional funding to transform the guide into a series of workshops and/or course modules to expand impact and accessibility.
